HS (Harmonised System) Codes — Quick Guide
The HS (Harmonised System) codes are 6-digit internationally standardised numbers used to classify traded products for customs and tariffs.
HS Codes – General Rule
The first 6 digits are standardised globally by the World Customs Organisation (WCO). However, each country can extend them (usually to 8 or 10 digits) for more specific tariff or statistical purposes.
Example: Typewriters & Accessories

🇺🇸 United States (HTSUS)
The US adds 4 more digits to make 10 (Harmonised Tariff Schedule of the US). Examples:

🇬🇧 United Kingdom (UK Global Tariff)

Recommendation for Default Use
For your invoices, customs declarations, or Shopify exports:
