Because some stories are worth being typed, not texted
For more than a decade, my husband Jacek and I have been bringing vintage typewriters back to life in our family workshop in Spain, finding new homes for them among writers, poets, artists, travellers and collectors around the world.
We've had the privilege of working with some of the biggest names, including Sony Music, L’Oréal, Miu Miu, SCOTT Sports and Tiffany & Co. Our typewriters have also found their way into the hands of Wes Anderson, Lady Gaga, Eddie Vedder and Simon Vargas!
But what makes us happiest? A photograph of a teenage girl who chose our typewriter over a new smartphone. A street poet writing for strangers. Someone discovering the magic of putting words onto paper.
We often say, half-jokingly, “We restore typewriters for the good of humanity!” And perhaps there's some truth in it. Every machine we restore might inspire another poem, a love letter or a story. Imagine how many thousands we've been a small part of!
We believe in letters that find their destination, novels that reach their final page, and poems that touch someone's heart.
That's what really matters to us.
