Custom 3D-Printed Typewriter Parts

Custom 3D-Printed Typewriter Parts – How the Service Works

At El Granero Typewriter Company, we offer a dedicated service for hard-to-find custom typewriter parts. Many vintage machines require components that have not been manufactured for decades, and traditional spare parts are often impossible to find. With our experience in restoration and precision 3D modelling, we can recreate many missing or broken parts so your typewriter can return to full working condition.

Classic manual typewriters are complex mechanical machines with many interconnected elements, such as the carriage, platen, springs, and escapement systems, all working together to produce consistent typing and spacing.

How It Works

1. Send Your Request
Contact us through chat or email and tell us what part you need.

Please include:

• Photos of the machine
• Close-ups of the broken or missing part
• Video if possible
• Basic measurements
• Typewriter model and brand

Example request:
A customer looking for a Japy/Patria carriage knob or internal part can send the details via this service page, and we will begin work on it.

2. Initial Service Fee (€25)
To begin the evaluation and preparation of your order, a €25 service fee is required.

This covers:

• Part identification
• Compatibility verification
• Design evaluation
• Research in our inventory and archives

The €25 is later deducted from the final order price if the project proceeds.

3. Evaluation and Design
Our team will check if the part is:

• Available as an original spare part
• Available in our existing 3D models
• Possible to design and reproduce

If necessary, we will create a custom 3D model based on measurements and references.

4. Final Quote
Once we confirm feasibility, we will send you:

• Final part price
• Production time
• Shipping cost based on your address

The €25 service fee will be deducted from the total.

5. Production & Preparation
Depending on the complexity, we will:

• Source an original vintage part
• Produce a custom 3D-printed component
• Adjust or finish the part for proper fit

Preparation time depends on:

• rarity of the model
• complexity of the part
• design and printing time

Typical preparation: 3–14 days

6. Shipping Worldwide
After payment is received, the part is carefully packed and shipped to your address with tracking.

Precision Engineering for Optimal Performance

Custom 3D-Printed Typewriter Parts offer an unparalleled level of precision, ensuring each replacement component fits perfectly and functions seamlessly. By utilising advanced 3D printing technology, these parts are crafted to match original specifications or tailored designs, allowing worn or broken typewriter components to be restored with exact detail. This precision engineering results in smoother operation and longer-lasting performance, which is essential for vintage typewriter enthusiasts looking to maintain authenticity while enhancing usability.

Durability and Material Quality

One of the key advantages of custom 3D-printed parts is the use of high-quality, durable materials selected specifically for typewriter functionality. Materials like reinforced polymers provide strength, resistance to wear, and lightweight properties. These materials ensure that each part withstands frequent use without deterioration, unlike traditional repairs that may degrade quickly. This durability makes custom 3D-printed parts an excellent choice for restoring valuable or heavily used typewriters.

Customisation and Compatibility

Custom 3D-Printed Typewriter Parts provide the flexibility necessary to fit a wide range of typewriter models, including rare and discontinued types. The customisation options allow for adjustments in dimensions, shapes, and mechanical features to match both modern and vintage designs. This adaptability means that typewriter owners no longer need to rely on scarce original parts or compromise on repair quality. Every component is tailored to maximise compatibility, restoring your typewriter’s functionality with precision and style.
