Vintage typewriters are not modern electronics.
They don't update themselves, sync with the cloud, come with a charger, or stay politely silent when you type.
We're a small family workshop, not Amazon. No robots, no giant warehouse, no magic button that ships your order five minutes after you click "buy." Every typewriter is chosen, restored, inspected, adjusted, tested and packed by hand.
Need it by a certain date? Ask us first. Miracles are possible. Automatic miracles are not.
They come with a past
These machines are historical objects, with character, quirks and usually a far more interesting backstory than your phone. We restore them with great care, but you may still find a tiny mark, a little patina, a sign of age.
That's not a bug. That's vintage. And honestly, it's why we love them.
Come and visit
Our showroom is open to anyone who wants to sit down, try the machines, type something unnecessary, fall in love, change their mind, try another one, and finally leave with the right typewriter.
Can't visit? Ask for photos, videos, details, advice or our honest opinion. We'd much rather answer ten questions now than have you discover later that what you really wanted was a laptop.
A typewriter might not be for you if...
- You like your objects brand-new and flawless, with no patina, scratches or stories.
- Ink, ribbons, little levers, mechanical clatter and the occasional dirty finger make you sigh.
- You expect next-day dispatch. We're two humans, not a fulfilment centre, and good restoration takes a few days.
- You'd be unhappy about import VAT or customs charges. Governments haven't accepted typewriters as a reason to abolish them, and where they apply, they're the buyer's responsibility.
- You're buying a surprise gift for someone who has never shown any interest in typewriters. Typewriters make wonderful gifts, but the person opening one should think so too.
A few friendly requests
- Sleep on it. If you still love the typewriter with your morning coffee, we'll be delighted to see you back. (Wine-fuelled midnight shopping is best left to the wine.)
- Check that whoever is buying is authorised to buy. We love young writers, but a surprise €500 order from a seven-year-old with one-click checkout gets complicated.
- Please don't buy us a "maybe." Every machine represents many hours of work, and these delicate mechanical veterans have survived decades without sightseeing tours around Europe. Cancellations, returns and exchanges follow our published shop policies and applicable law.
Before you click buy, ask us anything
More photos. A video. How the keyboard feels. What the typeface looks like. Tell us whether you're writing novels, letters, poems, shopping lists, manifestos or terrible first drafts, which language you write in, and whether the machine is for you, your partner, your child, your favourite writer, or someone who has been dropping obvious hints for six months.
The best typewriter purchase isn't the fastest one. It's the one where you open the box, roll in a sheet of paper, type the first sentence and think: Yes. This is exactly the one I wanted.
Choose carefully. Buy when you're sure. Then type the hell out of it.
Because some stories are worth typing, not texting.
