Non battere mai i caratteri direttamente sul rullo scoperto. Un foglio di supporto è utile quando un rullo vecchio è diventato duro.

Guida alla manutenzione e alla cura della macchina da scrivere
Mantieni la tua macchina da scrivere pulita, asciutta, coperta e funzionante. Usa il nastro e la carta giusti e non forzare mai un meccanismo che ha iniziato a opporre resistenza.
Gli elementi essenziali
Piccole abitudini prevengono la maggior parte dei problemi.
Una macchina da scrivere manuale restaurata solitamente richiede meno interventi di quanto si pensi. La maggior parte dei danni evitabili deriva da una conservazione in luoghi umidi, sporco mescolato a vecchio lubrificante, prodotti chimici non adatti o forza eccessiva applicata a una parte già bloccata.

Mantienila asciutta
Bevande, umidità, pareti umide e sbalzi di temperatura improvvisi sono molto più pericolosi del normale utilizzo.

Spolvera via la polvere
Rimuovi polvere, fibre di carta e briciole di gomma prima che si mescolino al vecchio olio all'interno del meccanismo.

Usa i comandi
Usa lo sblocco del carrello quando lo riposizioni a mano. Non spingere contro lo scappamento.

Coprila bene
Dopo l'uso, proteggi la macchina con la sua valigetta o con una copertura adatta una volta che tutto è pulito e asciutto.

Non forzarla mai
Un tasto, una leva, un carrello o una manopola bloccati sono un indizio diagnostico. Raramente la riparazione consiste nell'usare più forza.
Regola d'oro: pulisci prima, lubrifica solo quando c'è una ragione comprovata e fermati quando un meccanismo oppone resistenza.
Pulizia
Inizia a secco e delicatamente.
Per la cura domestica ordinaria, solitamente bastano una spazzola morbida, un panno in microfibra pulito e pazienza. Un panno leggermente umido può essere adatto per alcune superfici esterne, ma vernici d'epoca, decalcomanie, plastiche e legende dei tasti reagiscono in modo diverso.
Tasti e corpo
Pulisci delicatamente. Non inzuppare mai giunture, aperture, decalcomanie o legende dei tasti e prova qualsiasi prodotto in un punto non visibile.
Caratteri
Spazzola via l'inchiostro compattato e le fibre di carta lentamente affinché le leve dei caratteri non vengano piegate o graffiate.
Interno
Usa prima una spazzola morbida. Se usi aria, mantienila a bassa pressione e controllata in modo che i detriti non vengano spinti più a fondo.
Da evitare
Non usare WD-40, spray al silicone, olio penetrante, acetone o potenti detergenti multiuso come cura di routine.
Nastro, carta e rullo
Sii delicato sul sistema di battuta.
Un'impressione debole di solito significa che il nastro è secco, inserito in modo errato o impostato sul colore sbagliato. Colpire i tasti con più forza non risolve la causa e aumenta l'usura.
Nastro
Sostituiscilo quando la stampa sbiadisce. Controlla che passi correttamente attraverso il vibratore e che il meccanismo di inversione si muova liberamente.
Bobine originali
Alcune macchine richiedono le loro bobine metalliche originali. Conservale e riavvolgi su di esse il nastro fresco quando necessario.
Rullo e pressini
L'età può rendere la gomma dura, lucida o irregolare. Usa sempre la carta e aggiungi un foglio di supporto quando il rullo è particolarmente rigido.
Lubrificazione
Il meno è meglio.
Una macchina da scrivere non è qualcosa da oliare a calendario. Le leve dei caratteri lente indicano spesso sporco o residui secchi, non mancanza di olio. Il segmento dovrebbe normalmente rimanere pulito e asciutto.
- Non spruzzare mai lubrificante nel meccanismo.
- Tieni l'olio lontano da nastro, rullo, pressini, cinghie e percorso della carta.
- Pulisci e diagnostica prima; usa solo una quantità minima di olio adatto su un punto di frizione noto.
- Se persistono grasso indurito, cigolii, salti ripetuti o rigidità, la causa richiede l'intervento del laboratorio.
Conservazione e trasporto
Stabile, asciutta e al riparo dal sole diretto.
Una valigetta protegge la macchina durante il trasporto; una copertura ben aderente la protegge tra una sessione di scrittura e l'altra. Nessuna delle due deve intrappolare l'umidità. Sulla costa, tieni la macchina al chiuso, lontano da finestre aperte e pareti esterne che accumulano umidità.
Tra le sessioni
- Spazzola via i detriti visibili.
- Copri solo quando la macchina è asciutta.
- Tieni lontane bevande e piante da annaffiare.
- Scrivi periodicamente e nota subito eventuali cambiamenti.
Conservazione a lungo termine
- Rimuovi la carta.
- Segui il manuale originale per le impostazioni di rilascio carta e blocco carrello.
- Non trasportare una portatile tramite la maniglia della valigetta senza aver prima controllato la valigetta e le chiusure.
- Dopo il trasporto, ispeziona prima di forzare qualsiasi comando.

Sapere quando fermarsi
Alcuni problemi richiedono il banco di lavoro.
Un carrello che non avanza può avere diverse cause: un blocco di trasporto, un'impostazione del margine, una cordicella rotta, una molla principale che ha perso tensione o un problema di scappamento. Considera il sintomo come un indizio anziché presupporre una riparazione universale.
Interrompi il fai-da-te quando
- Una parte cigola, salta ripetutamente o sembra piegata.
- La cordicella si è rotta o la molla principale ha perso tensione.
- L'avanzamento carta non fa più presa.
- Una leva, una manopola o un pezzo strutturale si è incrinato o allentato.

- Contattaci prima di aprire o smontare la macchina. Le macchine restaurate solitamente includono la nostra garanzia di un anno; le macchine d'epoca rare o delicate potrebbero avere una garanzia limitata di 90 giorni, se indicato nella descrizione.

Quanto spesso deve essere revisionata una macchina da scrivere?
Non esiste un calendario universale. Revisionala quando l'azione cambia, dopo danni da impatto o trasporto, in presenza di corrosione o vecchio grasso, o quando sono coinvolti regolazioni e componenti.
Devo oliare regolarmente la mia macchina da scrivere?
No. Pulisci e diagnostica prima. Oli soltanto un punto di frizione specifico quando c'è una ragione reale e conosci la posizione corretta.
Posso usare il WD-40 o uno spray multiuso?
Non per la manutenzione di routine. Gli spray migrano, accumulano sporco e sono difficili da controllare vicino a vernice, gomma, scappamento e segmento.
Quanto spesso dovrei cambiare il nastro?
Cambialo quando la stampa sbiadisce dopo aver controllato il selettore colore e l'inserimento. La durata del nastro dipende dall'uso, dal materiale e dalla conservazione piuttosto che da un numero fisso di mesi.
Un foglio di carta è sufficiente?

When I attempted to make the adjustment myself, the arm broke off, which began my journey of research to find a professional restoration service. The process was not as difficult as I had anticipated, and the owners provided updates, videos, and demos of the fixes they made to my typewriter. In 2021 I had bought a beautiful Olympia Traveler de Luxe...it looked like new. Between moving from one country to another and place to place I was finally able to bring it with me. I lost the manual and was stuck. I was scared so I contacted them quickly via Instagram. Not even 2 minutes passed and I was resolving the mess I had. El Granero does a fine job. I once had two rare typewriters of the same make and model. Both had problems. However, they were able to fashion one working and complete Groma Kolibri typewriter to me. I was on holiday in southern Spain shortly after the work was complete. he went out of his way to deliver the machine to our hotel. superb service everytime I have worked with El Granero typewriter.company.
